Norman N. Walding was the radio officer aboard the Pamir during four voyages from 1942 to 1944 ( ) between Wellington and San Francisco.

Despite forbidden in war time, he carried a camera and filmed his crossings, like Heinrich Hauser and Hilary Tunstall-Behrens.
